The District 117 Superintendent Search Begins This Week!
On the evenings of April 11th, 13th, and 15th, the District 117 Administration and Board of Education will be reviewing candidates for the Superintendent of Schools open position. The interview setting will be in the form of a traditional board meeting where the closed session portion of the meeting will be dedicated to reviewing and interviewing several candidates over the course of this week.
Community High School District 117 also wants to take a moment to congratulate Dr. McKay on his retirement and commend him on his many years of service in our learning community. He has served our District for 22 years and has made a lasting impact on students, staff, and the 4 communities we serve. He began his career as a science teacher at Antioch Community High School. Dr. McKay then worked his way up to lead Lakes Community High School as its Principal and then lead our district as the Superintendent for the last 12 years. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors and thank him for his commitment to excellence.
Dr. Mckay’s new chapter in his life also presents a new chapter for the leadership of District 117. The Community High School District Board of Education and our Administration are committed to finding the best candidate for leading our schools in this next chapter. This initiative begins tonight when our Administration and Board of Education will conduct the first of 3 meetings to review/interview the current pool of candidates.
If you haven’t seen the superintendent survey results collected over the course of the last few weeks, check them out HERE. Many of our stakeholders have weighed in on what they feel the traits the next Superintendent of Schools should possess.
Our District Administration will continue to keep our learning community up to date with this process in the coming weeks. Please do not hesitate to contact your school administration or our District office for more information.
