Antioch's student of the month for January is senior John Stahl, a student who clearly made an impact on a lot of educators here. As student of the month, John gets a free pizza from our friends at Antioch Pizza Shop, as well as a gift certificate to the Sequoit Pride Store. Take a look at what a few of John's teachers had to say about him!
John is an absolute delight to work with in class and after school in theatre. He is not only extremely dedicated to his craft, and always working on bettering himself—but is also not afraid to ask questions, be silly and enjoy doing what he loves when acting. He has become one of Sequoit Theatre's fearless leaders, and has been a key player in our program continuing to grow. Recently he also represented Sequoit Theatre by performing in the AllState Production of Newsies at Illinois State University. Being accepted into this program emphasizes how hard he works, as he was chosen from hundreds of students from around the state who auditioned! We will miss John when he leaves us next year, but know his Legacy will carry on with the students he has mentored! -Stefanie Henkel
John Stahl...what a gem of a human. So insightful. So subtly funny. So stealthy at using online flashcards to memorize his lines for "9 to 5" last year, and somehow still managed English 3 without skipping a beat. Can't wait to see where life takes this remarkable man! -Helene Schulze
John is such a great student, great performer, and all-around great person! I've had the pleasure of not only being his counsellor, but also watching him grow up on the stage. He is intelligent, talented, funny, and compassionate, and I can't wait to see his future unfold! -Debbie Jasnoch
I haven't had the pleasure of having John in my class, but I remember him as a young lad in "Puffs" back in 2022, sporting the swoopiest hair. John is the happiest, smiliest guy; he genuinely seems delighted to be here and has made the most of every opportunity that ACHS has offered him. It’s been such a joy to see him grow into the performer he is today, and I'm excited to see all he does beyond the Sequoit Stage. Congrats, John Stahl!! -Madelynn Soberano
John Stahl was a GREAT student in Spanish class. He always went above and beyond. He was a joy to have each day! -Melissa Garcia
“A barbershop haircut that costs a quarter.” -Michael Riggs
Since the beginning of the year, John has been a standout member of my AP Statistics class. Balancing the rigorous demands of a college-level math course is no small feat, yet he maintained a solid A average throughout the first semester. His analytical skills and dedication to mastering complex data sets give me great confidence that he will excel on the AP exam this spring.
Beyond his mathematical prowess, John is a true "triple threat" in our performing arts department. Having watched him perform as a singer, dancer, and actor over the last few years, I have seen firsthand the discipline and passion he brings to the stage. It is rare to find a student who can pivot so seamlessly from calculating probability distributions to delivering a captivating theatrical performance.
John embodies the well-rounded excellence we strive for in our students, proving that one can be both a scholar and an artist. He is incredibly deserving of this recognition.
