**Exciting Update on the "Driving for Education" Program: Mark Your Calendars for May 17, 2024!**
**April 11, 2024, Deadline for Students to Opt-In and Confirm Cum Laude Eligibility**
Community High School District 117, alongside our generous partners at Raymond Chevrolet Kia, is excited to announce a significant update regarding our "Driving for Education" initiative. As we continue to foster academic excellence and community engagement among our students, we are thrilled to reveal that the date for the highly anticipated car giveaway has been set for May 17, 2024. This will be an exciting day, as one deserving graduate will be awarded a brand-new car in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
To ensure eligibility, students are reminded to submit all necessary paperwork to opt into the drawing and confirm their eligibility for cum laude recognition by the upcoming deadline of April 11, 2024 at 4pm. This is a critical step for those aiming to be in the running for the grand prize—a testament to their dedication, character, and contributions throughout their high school journey.
The "Driving for Education" program, a pioneering collaboration with Raymond Chevrolet Kia, underscores our commitment to encouraging students to excel in various aspects of their lives, aligning with our ‘D117 Portrait of a Graduate’ vision. Eligibility criteria for the cum laude distinction and the car giveaway include:
- Earning a minimum of 26 academic credits.
- Maintaining exemplary behavior with zero suspensions.
- Contributing to the community with at least 40 hours of volunteer work.
- Achieving excellence through securing 3 capstone credits.
- Showcasing school spirit by participating in at least four extracurricular activities.
Dr. Jeff Feucht, Superintendent of Community High School District 117, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "As we draw closer to the date of the car giveaway, the excitement within our district is palpable. This event is not just about rewarding academic and personal growth; it's about motivating our students to 'drive' towards their futures with confidence and purpose. We are grateful to Raymond Chevrolet Kia for providing this opportunity for one of our students."
Mark Scarpelli of Raymond Chevrolet Kia echoed these sentiments, "Seeing the community come together in anticipation of this event is truly inspiring. We are proud to play a role in supporting the educational journey of District 117's students."
We urge all eligible students to complete their paperwork by April 11, 2024 at 4pm, to ensure their chance to win. This car giveaway is more than just a prize; it's a milestone in our ongoing effort to empower students and recognize their hard work and achievements.
